Understanding Wagering Requirements on Casino Bonuses

By Sarah Chen · Published 20 June 2026

What Are Wagering Requirements?

When a casino offers bonus funds or free spins, you typically must wager the bonus amount a specified number of times before withdrawing winnings. This is the wagering requirement (also called playthrough or rollover).

Example Calculation

If you receive a £50 bonus with 10x wagering, you must place £500 in total bets before bonus-derived winnings become withdrawable. Game contributions vary — slots often count 100%, while table games may contribute less or be excluded.

2026 UK Rule Changes

From 19 January 2026, UKGC rules cap wagering requirements at 10x for new promotional offers. Mixed-product bonuses (combining casino and sports offers) are also restricted. Always check the operator's current terms.

What to Look For in Bonus Terms

  • Wagering multiplier (e.g. 10x, 35x)
  • Maximum bet while wagering
  • Game restrictions and contribution percentages
  • Expiry period
  • Maximum withdrawal from bonus winnings
